Kijana Educational Empowerment Initiative: Growing our Brand
Kijana Educational Empowerment InitiativeAbout This Project
Summary
Kijana Educational Empowerment Initiative has been “building its brand” for over two decades. Our marketing strategy evolved with the advent of the Kijana Global Innovation School, inaugurated in 2020, and educating 235 students and employing over 35 faculty and staff. Our brand centers around empowering Kenyan youth through authenticity, appreciation and recognition of strengths of east African cultures, particularly by highlighting the Kiswahili language and the vibrancy of local cultures.
Goals & Objectives
We have aimed to increase the following: our name recognition globally and particularly in western Kenya with the Kijana Global Innovation School; the engagement of our donor base; and the awareness and appreciation of the skills and contributions that Kenyan youth can provide for humanity.
Results & Impact
Our annual contributions increased from $35,000 in 2018 to over $500,000 annually from 2021-2024. Enrollment in our flagship school increased from 15 (inaugural class) in Jan 2020 to 235 (July 2024). We have 470,000+ followers on Facebook. Our Care Share and Explore program has impacted thousands.
