About This Project
Summary
Sport for Good (SFG) Cities is a global initiative, initially launched in New Orleans in 2014, that harnesses the power of collaboration and community to drive positive change, particularly for young people, through sport. Now active in 8 cities around the world, Laureus has pioneered a new way of working that is driving impact locally and providing communities with the support they need to meet the challenges of today and ensure young people have access to the life-changing power of sport.
Goals & Objectives
The SFG Cities model was created as a framework for organizations working in the sport for development sector to work towards collective change – to not only impact young people, but to drive systems-level change (for example, in improving access to resources at the local and state levels).
Results & Impact
SFG Cities multiply the impact that individual organizations can have on their communities. For example, we found that even without receiving a grant from Laureus, organizations that are members of a City and participate in coalition activities increase their impact on youth by 25%.
