About This Project
Summary
Social entrepreneurs are on the front lines of humanitarian crises. However, current laws often hinder the growth of social enterprise. In response, the Foundation (along with more than 60 Lex Mundi member law firms) created the Social Enterprise Law & Policy Report. It offers a comparative analysis of legal frameworks in 83 countries and provides key policy recommendations to catalyze the growth of social enterprise. By removing legal barriers, these organizations can reach more people.
Goals & Objectives
The Foundation created the report because nothing of its breadth/scope existed in the ecosystem prior. It creates a helpful roadmap for policymakers to make changes and to provide a more fertile ground for social enterprises to further their meaningful work.
Results & Impact
The report has been cited by and serves as a tool for: WEF; OECD; Geneva Centre for Philanthropy; and Catalyst 2030’s Government Champions for Social Innovation and Impact Working Group. The data and information gleaned will be heavily relied upon in WIPO’s upcoming 2024 Global Innovation Index.
