About This Project
Summary
Launched in 2020, Mastercard Community Pass is digital infrastructure that efficiently and securely connects rural communities to governments, NGOs and the private sector to provide access to critical services. The platform provides the user with a digital credential which can be used across multiple applications (agricultural, financial, healthcare and other sectors) and is accepted on common and low-cost acceptance devices, which enables transactions both online and offline.
Goals & Objectives
Nearly half the world lives on less than $6.85 per day and most live in rural communities that are left behind as the world digitizes. Community Pass provides underserved communities access to agricultural markets, credit and digital payments in offline environments with limited access to power.
Results & Impact
Community Pass provides 5M+ users access to critical digital services. Farmers using CP have reported 2X increases in harvest yields from access to authentic seeds and fertilizers and increases in crop prices of 20%+ from access to more buyers. Community Pass aims to reach 30M users by 2027.
