About This Project

Summary

Media Smart Citizens is a digital platform providing open-access media and tech literacy resources and events to the public, libraries, and educators. Professor-led and student intern-powered, MSC makes an outsized effort despite limited funding. We produce digital guides, audio recordings, original videos, thought leadership, and workshops that inform and inspire. Partners include The New York Public Library, NYSSCPA, Center for Communication, universities, and NYPL College & Career Pathways.

Goals & Objectives

Media Smart Citizens advances digital inclusion with a network of public institutions. We produce multimedia content on the First Amendment, tech solutions, and digital awareness. We teach and empower people to critically examine content, evaluate sources, and use tech to express themselves wisely.

Results & Impact

MSC is a recognized innovative model in the media and tech literacy space and an award-winning content creator. We support the digital inclusion ecosystem by developing and distributing learning resources across a partner network and engaging next-gen media maker interns to pay learning forward.
