About This Project
Summary
In 2023, the Mozilla Festival team commissioned an interactive learning experience on Minecraft Education to educate students on the basic principles of AI. The “AI Wildlife Park” teaches students that AI's effectiveness depends on the data it receives. Set in a wildlife park, students help retrain an AI system designed to feed animals that is malfunctioning. The goal is to improve the AI's accuracy by providing more useful information, giving students' understanding of AI and its applications.
Goals & Objectives
We designed the world with key learning objectives: introducing students to AI basics, demonstrating how training data impacts AI decisions, showing how AI decisions can be controlled, and explaining CAPTCHAs. These objectives supported Mozilla Festival’s goal to engage youth in Trustworthy AI.
Results & Impact
Since its release on the Minecraft Education Store the AI Wildlife Park has been used by tens of thousands of students across the world. In early 2024 the world was also added to Minecraft’s in-game library, being the first content in the AI category that wasn’t produced by Microsoft.
