About This Project

Summary

Multitudes is building an innovative digital screening platform to identify K-2 students at risk of reading challenges, including dyslexia. The product addresses a multifaceted challenge with long term individual/societal impact and facilitates research that reveals strengths and needs across the diverse educational landscape of California. The validation of this tool, which will be free for CA public schools, anticipates a state mandate for universal screening that goes into effect in 2025.

Goals & Objectives

To improve literacy outcomes and brain health for a lifetime, build educational equity across gaps for California's multilingual learners, provide an accurate, efficient and cost effective tool with the flexibility to integrate with new and emerging neuroscience and technologies.

Results & Impact

Multitudes addresses a challenge that affects 10% of the population, providing tools and resources to prevent a child's early reading struggles leading to delays and complicating and compounding issues. The tool brings California districts into alignment with national efforts to improve literacy.
