About This Project
Summary
My Family, My Voice is a social-emotional learning workbook designed for children growing up in LGBTQ+ families. It provides a safe, structured space for kids and caregivers to explore identity, celebrate their family, and build the skills needed to navigate a world that doesn’t always understand or affirm them. The workbook builds emotional resilience, reinforces pride in family identity, and fosters a greater sense of belonging and connection that they'll carry into schools and the community.
Goals & Objectives
Affirm children’s lived experience and family structures. Create a safe space for family discussions about identity, discrimination, and emotions. Help kids develop a self-advocacy toolbox to address the exclusionary actions of others. Increase emotional resilience. Promote belonging and connection
Results & Impact
Children report greater confidence discussing their family structure, feeling more connected to families like theirs, and being more prepared to navigate uncomfortable social situations. Caregivers describe safe spaces for healing conversations and deeper connection with their children at home.
