About This Project

Summary

AI for Nonprofit Empowerment is a field guide developed by NationSwell, in partnership with the Annie E. Casey Foundation, to help nonprofit leaders understand and engage with artificial intelligence. Designed for accessibility and utility, it blends ethical frameworks, real-world case studies, and hands-on tools. The report was intentionally created to meet the needs of resource-constrained teams navigating AI adoption and implementation.

Goals & Objectives

To close the knowledge and access gap facing nonprofits by providing a trusted, practical entry point into AI. The report aims to reduce harm, build capacity, and inspire a more ethical, inclusive approach to AI adoption across the social sector.

Results & Impact

The report has been accessed by hundreds of nonprofits, used as a pre-read for curated convenings, and shared widely across the sector. It also sparked the launch of a workstream focused on AI capacity in the social impact sector as part of NationSwell’s Workforce Innovation Collaborative.
