About This Project
Summary
"Make Nukes History" seized the momentum behind the Oppenheimer film's award-season nominations to spread awareness about the urgent and enduring threat of nuclear weapons, which has fallen off the public's radar. The three-fold campaign strategy sought to organize Hollywood through an open letter, capture attention through impactful billboards, murals, and an art installation placed along major routes to the Oscars ceremony, and harness earned and social media to reach national audiences.
Goals & Objectives
Everyone was talking about the film’s 13 nominations, but no one was talking about the world’s 13,000 nuclear weapons. Our goal was to remind Hollywood and the public that while Oppenheimer is history, nuclear weapons aren’t. Robert Oppenheimer started the nuclear weapons era, but we can end it.
Results & Impact
Our open letter was signed by icons like Michael Douglas, Jane Fonda, and Kristen Stewart, earning coverage in major media outlets Oscar week. Our billboards and ads reached more than 4 million people in LA, and our influencer commissions reached more than 5 million people across social channels.
