About This Project

Summary

Julaymba is a Mixed Reality experience that transports you to the world’s oldest living tropical rainforest—the Daintree, in Queensland, Australia. Created in collaboration with the Eastern Kuku Yalanji Traditional Owners and the Jabalbina Aboriginal Corporation, Julaymba connects you with an Indigenous Elder who shares his wisdom, cultural heritage, and emphasises the importance of environmental conservation.

Goals & Objectives

The objectives of Julaymba are twofold, with a strong focus on environmental stewardship. Firstly, it aims to facilitate First Nations storytelling, supporting truth-telling by amplifying Indigenous perspectives on environmental management and custodianship. Results & Impact

Julaymba has reached over 15K viewers globally, inc. a showcase at COP28 in Dubai, amplifying First Nations voices at a leading climate change conference. It has also been featured at SXSW. We are now working to bring Julaymba into Australian schools to support environmental and cultural education.
