About This Project
Summary
The Power to the Patients’ Hip Hop Healthcare PSA features six of Hip Hop’s all-time greatest legends: Fat Joe, Busta Rhymes, Chuck D (Public Enemy), Method Man (Wu-Tang Clan), French Montana, and Rick Ross. These iconic artists decided to utilize the prominent celebration of Hip Hop’s 50th Anniversary to represent for people in struggle and all of us who are suffering a rigged healthcare system across America that hides prices, system-wide, to inflate medical bills and to evade accountability.
Goals & Objectives
Our key audience was comprised of elected federal officials in Washington, D.C. who can create and move legislation towards real price transparency in healthcare. We had to first make them aware of this issue from powerful voices that carry weight in American culture and whose opinions are trusted.
Results & Impact
The PSA generated over 1.3 Billion earned media impressions and was distributed by over 150 national outlets including CBS News, CNN, Variety, Rolling Stone. The collaboration led to leadership meetings with over 100 Members of Congress and with VP Harris and Biden and bills passed in Congress.
