About This Project

Summary

In March 2024, the Precious Dreams Foundation partnered with the Administration for Children's Services (ACS) to open a Comfort Shop in New York City. This initiative aims to enhance the intake process for youth entering foster care by providing a range of new comfort items and essential resources. The Comfort Shop offers brand-new comfort items such as therapeutic comfort items, clothing, and other necessities to help ease the transition for children and teenagers entering foster care.

Goals & Objectives

The project aims to serve every child entering NYC's foster care system by offering new comfort items, free programming like yoga, meditation, art classes, and special events. Its goal is to enhance their experience with comfort, support, and inspiration during a challenging transition.

Results & Impact

Since opening, the Comfort Shop has impacted over 500 youth with pajamas, Nike Dunks, clothing, plush items, and journals. Highlights include Scar Lip's special appearance and corporate partners boosting product offerings, enhancing comfort and support for every child in care.
