About This Project

Summary

Relativity's Justice for Change (J4C) program provides free use of its extensible cloud platform, RelativityOne, to organizations doing legal work on behalf of social justice. Through J4C, Microsoft Pro Bono and the Washington Autism Alliance (WAA) used RelativityOne’s AI capabilities in a test case challenging the wrongful denial of Medicaid benefits to a young adult with severe autism, surfacing evidence to secure critical services.

Goals & Objectives

By providing Microsoft Pro Bono and WAA with advanced AI, our goal was to enable their clients to challenge Washington State's failure to meet its Medicaid commitment and to secure the critical care and services owed to individuals with severe autism.

Results & Impact

With J4C, Microsoft Pro Bono processed 8,000+ documents, uncovering admissions that state personnel recognized the client's need for care but resisted the costs. These findings blocked key counterarguments, securing entitlement to round-the-clock care and setting precedent for other beneficiaries.
