About This Project

Summary

ScholarCHIPS partnered with Aventiv to promote our college scholarship program for children of incarcerated parents. Aventiv (owner of JPay) has invested over $400 million in capital over the past four years into deploying over 600,000 tablets in jails and prisons in 48 states. Aventiv provides technology to help 1.9 million incarcerated people connect with their loved ones on the outside. Aventiv ran ScholarCHIPS' scholarship flier on their tablets to connect families and provide resources.

Goals & Objectives

The objective of this campaign was to assist ScholarCHIPS (a 2023 CNN Top 10 Hero), which had been a local/regional program for 12 years, in making the organization's impact national. Additionally, a goal of this campaign was to provide a way for incarcerated parents to connect with their children.

Results & Impact

As a result of this campaign/partnership, ScholarCHIPS went national and tripled the average cohort size of scholars (from 8 to 23), increasing the diversity of scholarship recipients. Recipients are Caucasian, Native, Latinx, African American from CA, AZ, TX, MO, MI, KS, AL, OK, FL, DC, MD, and VA.
