About This Project

Summary

In Africa, power cuts at hospitals are frequent and long-lasting, severely harming medical teams’ abilities to provide quality services. They can even be deadly. To address this challenge, Smile Train and our partner Kids Operating Room teamed up to install solar panels in hospitals across Africa, saving lives and improving the quality of surgical care in the process. To spread awareness of this critical initiative, we presented a video produced by BBC Storyworks that would reach the masses.

Goals & Objectives

* Upgrade 70+ pediatric theaters across Africa with solar technology by 2025 * Reach vast audiences with a BBC-produced film * Advocate for the solar surgery system to be the standard for every operating room installed in the future
