The Landscape of Election Denial in America
States United Democracy Center | States United Action PROJECTAbout This Project
Summary
The Election Denier movement is a danger to our democracy at every level. That’s why States United Action introduced electiondeniers.org, a groundbreaking interactive hub monitoring the Election Denier movement across the United States. This tool provides insights into individuals in state government and Congress who deny election results, tracks legislative proposals impacting elections in all 50 states, analyzes voter turnout data, and identifies candidates who reject electoral outcomes.
Goals & Objectives
Election Deniers have run for or held offices with election powers in 47 states. The goal of the project: to raise awareness of the threats to democracy, tell the story of the Election Denial movement, and give voters of all political beliefs the tools they need to make an informed decision in 2024.
Results & Impact
So far in 2024, 150k used the site to identify their representatives. It has become a go-to resource for journalists due to its rigorous methodology and nonpartisan lens. Launched in 2021 as a pilot tracking Election Deniers in statewide races, it has since significantly expanded in reach and scope.
