About This Project
Summary
In 1970, Roosevelt High School, a once thriving all-black high school in West Palm Beach, FL, was shut down as a result of school integration. The closure of the high school proved devastating to the community for generations to come. The Quantum Foundation, an organization devoted to improving the well-being of underserved communities, stepped in and took the lead to restore Roosevelt. We were tasked to tell their story to raise awareness and get the community involved in this initiative.
Goals & Objectives
This video was intended to gain the community's attention to get involved in the city's politics to prioritize the restoration of this school and community and fundraise for the community-positive programming the restored high school will offer.
Results & Impact
The generations of those impacted by the school's closure in 1970 finally felt their story was told accurately and since then, have shown the video at public events to help with the ongoing efforts to push the initiative forward. The county school board has since agreed to fund the restoration.
