About This Project
Summary
The Citizen Guide Program, which pairs immigrants with volunteer tutors, has unveiled its campaign film, Earned It. Directed by Indian-Polish filmmaker Henry DaCosta through Strike Anywhere, it follows the final steps of one man's path to citizenship and the friendship he builds with his American tutor. Shot entirely on location in Montana with a local crew, and scored to snowpool, an original collaboration between Emile Mosseri (Minari) and Julianna Barwick.
Goals & Objectives
“Earned It,” for Welcome.US's Citizen Guide initiative, wasn't a film for immigrants - it was made to get Americans volunteering. It asks viewers to imagine arriving in a new country without a community and to recognize how much one person can change another's life.
