About This Project
Summary
Shari Davis, co-executive director of the Participatory Budgeting Project, visits Philadelphia to explore the promise of democracy with local residents and new citizens. They share how we can achieve a fair and equitable democracy through participation. Listening is an essential ingredient -- without it, we limit our ability to work together and incorporate what we've heard from others into the path forward.
Goals & Objectives
Our film launched a 3-year partnership to expand and promote democracy, encouraging everyone, especially marginalized communities, to participate and have their voices heard. Filmed in Philadelphia, it aims to engage and empower viewers to be part of our evolving democracy.
Results & Impact
The film’s release generated huge excitement in the Philadelphia area and was used as a platform to spotlight democracy going into a consequential election year. Gov. Josh Shapiro was thrilled to see TED and our partner focusing on democracy, and local and regional media gave significant attention.
