About This Project

Summary

The Bert Show’s Pinot & Period Party was a community-building volunteer event at a winery that brought listeners of the nationally syndicated radio show & podcast The Bert Show together for a fun afternoon of volunteerism & education focusing on period poverty. We aimed to educate about Period Poverty Awareness Month & provide people from all over the state of Georgia with opportunities to contribute by donating period products and/or volunteering by packing period kits for menstruators in need.

Goals & Objectives

The primary goal was to bring people together at a fun volunteer event that benefits menstruators in need by collecting period products & packing them into period kits to be distributed by nonprofit Helping Mamas. The other goal was to raise awareness for period poverty via on-air & podcast breaks.

Results & Impact

Over 51,000 period products were raised & packed into “period kits” in one afternoon for menstruators in need by over 300 Bert Show listeners. Education & awareness about Period Poverty was supplemented by breaks on the radio, episodes on the podcast, and on the show & cast's social channels.
