About This Project

Summary

"Humanities Works" is a multimedia journalism project that seeks to use video storytelling to showcase the value of non-STEM academic studies, community projects, people as change agents, and organizations in the non-profit and for-profit world which found success through their ability to use humanist thinking to engage others. This entry, which focuses on a nonprofit using creative and artistic talents to engage young people on the spectrum, is one example of the goals of "Humanities Works."

Goals & Objectives

"Humanities Works" is a play on words...that humanities studies are not useless, that bridging academic learning with civic engagement, digital tools and social media strengthen the link between learning and action by fostering the awareness of humanities skills in the workplace.

Results & Impact

The Band Together community engagement story in the "Humanities Works" project received more than 200 views/YouTube subscribers in the first days of release. The production team was just invited to present a screening at an academic conference where humanities values at work will be discussed.
