About This Project
Summary
In a rapidly changing world of work, many young people are left behind from lack of access to skills, undermining social and economic progress. Launched by UNICEF’s Generation Unlimited and partners, Passport to Earning is a digital platform offering free, digital education and job-relevant skills for young people, especially girls, aged 15–24. The training runs on Microsoft’s Community Training, a cloud-based solution, where learners can access localized content even in low-bandwidth areas.
Goals & Objectives
Passport to Earning helps UNICEF improve equitable access to education for young people. Active in 5 countries, it aims to skill 8 million young people by 2027. The focus is not only to scale course completions but also to better position youth to access advanced skilling and earning opportunities.
Results & Impact
Since launching, Passport to Earning has certified over 2 million youth in India with digital and financial skills, which included over 50% adolescent girls and young women. Passport to Earning reached the 2 million milestone, from 1 million, in less than a year in 2024.
