In Your Shoes

About This Project

Summary

"In Your Shoes" is a Virtual Reality game that gives youth the autonomy to navigate complex situations in a supported and safe digital environment. Developed by Victim Services of Durham Region, in collaboration with human trafficking survivors, youth, community partners, and Zemind - "In your Shoes" is part of a youth Immersive Learning program aimed at prevention of human trafficking and other forms of violence and exploitation that youth face in today's physical and digital worlds.

Goals & Objectives

"In Your Shoes" aims to prevent victimization of youth by equipping them with the knowledge and skills required to identify and appropriately mitigate risky situations that can lead to exploitation.

Results & Impact

VSDR's prevention programming reached over 30,000 youth from 2023-2024. While "In Your Shoes" has been piloted with over 300 youth showing 100% satisfaction rate and increased learning, VSDR's provincial programs provide an opportunity to expand reach of the game to all youth across Ontario.
