About This Project

Summary

The Rubbish Film Festival is an innovative, award-winning nationwide environmental media initiative for Secondary School students in Ireland. Each year, we empower over 1,800 young people across 150 schools to create powerful one-minute films addressing sustainability, waste reduction, and climate action. Now successfully piloting in Australia, our vision is to scale globally to amplify youth voices, inspire change, and drive environmental awareness worldwide.

Goals & Objectives

To raise environmental awareness and inspire tangible action among young people by combining climate education with digital storytelling. Our goal is to engage schools and communities nationwide, build media skills, and scale internationally to empower youth voices and climate solutions globally.

Results & Impact

This year we've engaged students across 160 schools in 20+ Irish Local Authorities and launched a pilot in Australia. 92% of teachers have reported greater environmental awareness; student films reached 50,000+ viewers and directly inspired measurable school-based climate actions & community change.
