Making Impact: Meghan Duggan

About This Project

Summary

MAKERS is a Yahoo media and community-focused brand that exists to accelerate equity for women in the workplace and beyond. Our video series Making Impact was created to highlight women who are forging paths and creating a better world with their efforts. This piece features former gold medal olympian and current New Jersey Devils front office member Meghan Duggan who as an out woman is an LGBTQ activist and discusses the importance of not banning NHL Pride nights as well as women in the NHL.

Goals & Objectives

The goal for this piece originally started out as a way to highlight Meghan Duggan paving the way for more women to work in professional sports - especially the male dominated NHL. However due to rule changes on PRIDE in NHL the interview ended up serving awareness on both levels.

Results & Impact

The piece came out with incredible timing as the NHL had recently banned all PRIDE nights including players use of PRIDE tape as a way of supporting silently. The piece was shared across MAKERS platforms & Yahoo's social channels and helped spark a change back in the rules of the NHL to allow PRIDE
